So you have your new Barrel, now what?

Alternatives;

3in Moonshiner Combs;

• Place one or more combs into a Spirit of your choice. Color will start extracting within a day or so.

• We recommend sampling periodically starting at 1 week in the bottle. Full flavor should be extracted in 4~6 weeks.

New Barrels;

• Inspect the barrel for any damage that may have occured in shipping.

• Check the hoops to verify they are still tight and not falling off the barrel.

• If no damage is observed and hoops are tight, we recommend hydrating the barrel with clean, warm water. This will both prep the wood for your Spirits as well as seal any small leaks that may have developed if te barrel has dried slightly since pressure testing

• We recommend topping the barrel off with water and letting sit for 24~48 hours. During this time you might see some small drips, this is normal.

• After the rehydrating period, provided no leaks remain, you’re ready to dump the barrel and fill it with your Spirit!
